Basic Research Strategies. (Beginner, Intermediate)
If you aren't seeing any blue hint icons and you would like to find more information, we will discuss the next basic steps to find the answers! 
Boy Scout Genealogy Merit Badge 1&2
Class Description: Taught by a registered Boy Scout merit badge counselor, and Layton FamilySearch Center staff member. 
 Registration for the class is required prior to attending. Scouts (parents may attend) will participate in a workshop that will cover necessary requirements to earn the Boy Scout Genealogy Merit Badge.
Wearing of the Boy Scout uniform is encouraged.
Discover Your Ancestors Using  Partner Sites
Class Description: You have searched the records available on FamilySearch, but want to branch out to the "Partner Sites". We will discuss the three main Partner Sites, how to search them, and how to attach the records you find to FamilySearch.
Duplicates and Merging Records (Beginners and Intermediate)
Learn how to search for duplicate records, how merging works, and steps to follow during a merge. Class members will practice merging using the FS Family Tree Beta program.
FamilySearch Memories (Beginners and Intermediate)
How to upload photos, documents, stories, and audio to FamilySearch and link them to an ancestor.
Getting to Know Your Ancestors With the Person Page
What can you learn about your ancestors and the days and times in which they lived? Get to know them through the "Person Page" in Family Tree. It is full of discoveries that will link your heart to theirs! Hands-on activities will introduce all features of the "Person Page" including each section of the Details and Memories screens. Bring your questions.
Getting Started: Me and My Tree
What is the difference between ancestral and descendancy research and how can it make a difference in our life?
In the class, you will be introduced to Descendancy research about what you can learn about extended families by using the Descendancy view. 
Getting Started With Help and Search
Where can all the historical records in FamilySearch be found? If you have questions about any family history topic, where can you go for help? The Class will introduce you to the Help and Search features in FamilySearch where you can "Discover", "Gather", and "Connect" with your ancestors. 
How to Edit and Fix Relationships in FamilySearch (Beginning and Intermediate.)
Learn how to correct dates etc. and attach husband, wife, and children to their respective lines.
Keys for Searching Online Historical Records (Beginners and Intermediate)
Class Description:
Search tips for finding online historical records in FamilySearch through Record Hints, a General Search, Research Wiki, and the Catalog.
Making Connections Using Descendancy
Class Description: (Beginners and Intermediate) What is the difference between ancestral and Descendancy research and how can it make a difference in your life? In the class, you will be introduced to Descendancy research and what you can learn about extended families by using the Descendancy view. Hands-on activities help you "Discover", "Gather", and "Connect" ancestors and their stories to you and to each other.
Preserve Family Memories Through Stories (Beginner and Intermediate)
Class Description: Learn how to create and edit a story in "Memories", attach an image, and link the story to an ancestor in Family Tree.
Record Hints and Sourcing in Family Tree, (Beginner and Intermediate)
Learn the value of adding Sources to your ancestors in Family Tree and how to "Review and Attach" Record Hints.
Using Ancestry.com with FamilySearch (Beginner and Intermediate)

Learn how to trace a family over time through census records, and use them to tell a family's story.
Using the Consultant Planner to discover Family History Experiences
Class Description: (Beginners and Intermediate.) The class is for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help them "Discover", "Gather", and "Connect" family history experiences for themselves and help others to do the same using the Consultant Planner. The class introduces each section of the Consultant Planner and provides hands-on experience in using it.
Using the Wiki and Catalog to Find Research Helps (For Beginners, and Intermediate.)
Class Description: In FamilySearch, learn what records exist in the places and time periods for your ancestors and find links to world-wide record collections.
Web Indexing - Reviewer Training (Intermediate)
Once an individual has indexed over 1000 records, he/she is invited to become a reviewer.
The process of "reviewing" a previously indexed batch helps to insure the quality of the work.
Web Indexing - The new "browser - based Indexing Program" Class teaches:
Basic indexing skills and uses other basic resources and helps available.
Although the new indexing principles on the web are the same as the old downloadable indexing program, there are sufficient rearrangements and new presentations in the new program
